Board of Directors confirmed.  Our election meeting was filled with appreciation for past HSC Board of Directors and culminated with a standing ovation for departing President Roger Chassay.  There was an electrifying twist to this years election as nominee Janet Emory declines nomination after electronic voting begins and Carl Case steps-in to fill this position.  Also, in the race for Publicity Director the club had two nominees:  Jim Hall, who was on the ballot from the start, and late comer, Cyndie Cookston.

General Membership override BOD decision...

The General Membership closed the nominations and confirmed all nominee wiith the exception of the Publicity Director.  After this confirmation the General Membership proposed to override the Board of Directors decision to exclude members that had voted on the web for voting on the Publicity Director.  This was a close vote and difficult for many members as Jim Hall has served our club for many years but the club voted and Cyndie was confirmed as our next Publicity Director.  With 8 new directors the club will get much needed new blood while retaining the experience and the corporate knowledge of returning BOD members.  I need not articulate that our new BOD members come with long credentials as well as experience... Please welcome our new Huntsville Ski Club Board of Directors.  They will begin their official term in office on 1 April 2011...

President		Sue Chatham	I consider it an honor to be nominated for President of the Huntsville Ski Club. In the past, I have served on the Ski Club Board in several different capacities. As a long time member, I feel that I have an understanding of the Huntsville Ski Club's goals and the desire to see the Ski Club continue to be a viable organization. I will work with the Board to provide our members with an organization that they can be proud to be a member.
Vice President		Lynda Locke	I am pleased to have the nomination for Vice-President. If I am elected, I will support the goals and objectives of HSC to the best of my ability. I believe my previous Board experience and my willingness to work with the elected Board will enable me to fulfill my responsibilities.

Ski Trips Dir		Carl Case	Carl Case is a retired, new grandfather, who learned to downhill ski after joining the HSC in the mid-nineties. He served as a trip coordinator and treasurer. He enjoys socials, cookouts, and hiking, biking outings, and especially the Fall Creek Falls and Gatlinburg trips. If elected, he'd be happy to serve as the HSC Ski Trips Director.
Special Events Dir		Vincent Guarin	Vince Guarin has been an active leader in Special Events. Organizing and directing the Annual Bowling Party and several dances, Vince has proven that he can get the job done. Vote for Vince to make Special Events one of the highlights for our HSC members.
Training Dir		Michael Lanier	I would coordinate fun cross training activities that everyone of all ability levels can participate in. I will leverage my experience as an off-piste skier, snowboarder, nordic skier, ski jumper, masters alpine ski racer, licensed level II USSCA alpine race coach and official. I was a founding board member of the Crested Butte Academy, US Skiing Citizen Racing board member in Park City and national youth race director for the National Brotherhood of Skiers. I worked closely with Burke Mountain Academy in Vermont and Gould Academy in Maine with youth ski race development...
Publicity Dir		Cyndie Cookston	Cyndie has been an active member of our club for several years and is always willing to take on new challenges. As trip coordinator for this year, she took on many challenges that prove she can do the job. If you want someone that will work hard and bring new ideas and energy to the HSC Publicity Director position, vote for Cyndie.
FlakeyNews Editor		Nancy Vreuls	Nancy has provided the HSC with a best in class newsletter.  How can you improve on perfection? Vote for Nancy and you will continue to see one of the best newsletters ever produced... not just by our club but by any club, skiing, biking, etc.  She is the right person for this job...  even if she won't say so herself.
