Trip Report for Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort...
On January 28th, 18 Huntsville Ski Club members left Taos and drove to Durango. We met 12 more members flying into Durango for a week of great skiing at Purgatory! We stayed at Durango Mountain Resort with wonderful ski-in/ski-out condos that had us on the slopes in a few short minutes...
Purgatory had 15 inches of snow 2 days before we arrived and a great snow fall mid-week to keep the slopes in A-1 condition for our trip.
Saturday night we had a white chili dinner for people as they arrived throughout the evening.
Our nightly Apres Ski parties were well attended with beer, wine, and snacks for all, as they relived their day on the slopes, told wild stories, and planned dinner outings.
Wednesday night we had a baked spaghetti dinner that was eaten heartily by all.
On Thursday, half of us (15) took the Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge Steam Train to Cascade Canyon for a full day of riding the rails through the San Juan Mountains with snow falling all around. It was Gorgeous!
Friday we had 2 pots of Anazi Beans and Hamhocks compliments of the Dollman's to add to our snacks and leftovers so no one had to cook on the first or the last night of the trip.
I think everyone had a good time at Durango flying down the rolling slopes and having lunch "On the Beach" with warm, sunny spring weather for 2 days!
Thanks to everyone who came...for your warm smiles and cheery comraderie...it was a great week!
